Burlington County College "LIFE: Learning Is For Everyone" Needs Volunteer Instructors

Burlington County College (BCC) sponsors a very successful program called "LIFE: Learning Is For Everyone" geared to the adult community, 50 years or older, that knows that learning can be a lifelong adventure. For over 25 years, LIFE has offered popular and well-attended classes of all kinds, from seminars, discussions and lectures, to hands-on computer, craft and gardening instruction, from fitness classes to nutrition management to walking tours, museum trips, concerts, theater performances, etc., throughout the region.

BCC LIFE is looking to expand its course offerings for the SPRING15 semester, and hopes to find volunteer instructors or facilitators willing to conduct classes anytime during the week, in the evenings and on weekends.

As a college instructor myself, I know that my colleagues are always discovering new data or research in their fields, or are involved in some activity outside of their discipline that they'd love to share with others. LIFE is the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Typically, classes are taught at the Pemberton and Mount Laurel campuses, at the Burlington County Library in Westampton, as well as in Willingboro and Mount Holly. Classes can usually be arranged to suit your schedule dependent on availability of suitable instructional space. It can be just one session, a series or a full semester of classes.

The possibilities are endless:

• lead a discussion group or seminar course on books, movies, music, history, science, etc.
• organize day trips to museums, concerts, interesting New Jersey sites, etc.
• lead game or activity participation sessions: card or tile games, brain fitness, walking groups, craft instruction, gardening, aquatic fitness, nutrition and meal planning sessions, financial planning, retirement planning, etc.

Contact the LIFE office at 609.894.9311 X1499, for more info, or send in the attached proposal. Please submit the enclosed course proposal for the Spring 15 semester by October 3. I have included the Fall LIFE Course Brochure so you can see what kind of courses we have offered.

We want to continue to create a vibrant and active community of adult learners through course schedules that reflect the interests of our community here in South Jersey. Becoming a LIFE instructor is a great way for you to enrich the lives of adult learners and our community.

Best regards.
